Our food pantry distribution has more than doubled since the start of the COVID pandemic.
We were providing 25 families (a total of 72 individuals) per month with bags of groceries and are now providing groceries to 63 families (a total of 182 individuals) per month, with more approaching us daily. The fantastic volunteer staff have continued to prepare bags monthly and are now delivering groceries in an effort to keep everyone save.
A new outreach, the Hot Plate Krewe, started in late March and ended in mid-June. Through the generosity of local restaurants (Chef Ron’s Gumbo Stop, Silk Road Restaurant and Cafe at the Square Restaurant) and Councilmember Kristen Palmer, dedicated parishioners portioned out and delivered over 1,200 hot meals and lunch bags. Recipients included our Anna’s Place NOLA youth families; homeless, disabled and unemployed individuals/families; and clients of Women With a Vision (a community-base non-profit collective of black women combating the spread of HIV/AIDS in communities of color).
While short lived, the impact was massive.
